La Thanatothèque
Derrière ce projet se cachent deux artistes aux parcours atypiques.
Lui: d’abord apprenti jockey, puis charpentier, ébéniste, sculpteur il se forme ensuite aux métiers de la bijouterie pour finalement amener son savoir faire à la Thanatothèque.
Elle: étudiante en animation, c’est en tant qu’illustratrice jeunesse qu’elle exercera avant de se passionner tour à tour pour les plantes carnivores, les animaux des abysses puis la taxidermie.
Tous deux fascinés par le charme des cabinets de curiosités, ils fondent en 2021 la Thanatothèque. Leurs créations au croisement de la sculpture et des sciences naturelles reprennent les techniques anciennes d’éclatés mises au jour par Edmée François Chauvot de Beauchêne au XVIIIe siècle.
La Thanatothèque cherche à souligner la noblesse des espèces en créant des objets précieux qui célèbrent la beauté de la nature et du vivant même au delà de la mort.

Behind this project are two artists with atypical backgrounds. Him: first apprentice jockey, then carpenter, cabinetmaker, sculptor, he then trained in the trades of jewelery to finally bring his know-how to the Thanatothèque.
